ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary board of trustees on arrangement of
Election Commission of Pakistan individuals will meet here on Thursday to
examine arrangement of the commission's two individuals.
The board of trustees will consider selections by the public
authority and the resistance for arrangement as ECP individuals from Punjab and
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The two ECP individuals from Punjab and KP — Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi
and Irshad Qaiser — separately, resigned on July 26 in the wake of finishing
their five-year sacred term and the lawful cutoff time for arrangement of their
replacements inside 45 days terminated on September 9.
The executive has proposed the names of Ahsan Mahboob, previous
official of the Police Service of Pakistan; Advocate Raja Amer Khan of the
Supreme Court; and Dr Syed Pervaiz Abbas, a previous official of the Pakistan
Administrative Service (PAS), for the empty post of the ECP part from Punjab.
For the arrangement of ECP part from KP, the head has proposed the
names of resigned Justice Ikramullah Khan, previous PAS official Faridullah
Khan and Advocate Muzammil Khan of the Supreme Court.
Head of the Opposition in the National Assembly and leader of the
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif has proposed six names for
ECP part from Punjab and three from KP.
The names of resigned equity Tariq Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Javed
Anwar, resigned equity Mushtaq Ahmed, Khalid Masood Chaudhry, Irfan Qadir and
Irfan Ali have been proposed for ECP part from Punjab, though Syed Afsar Shah,
Sardar Hussain Shah and Sohail Altaf have been selected for ECP part from
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Thursday's gathering of the parliamentary board of trustees will be
led by Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari. Protection Minister Pervez
Khatak, Minister for National Education and Vocational Training Shafqat
Mehmood, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, Railways Minister
Azam Swati and Senator Naseebullah Ullah Bazai will go to the gathering from
the public authority side.
Rana Sanaullah, Shiza Fatima Khawaja, previous executive Raja
Pervez Ashraf, Shahida Akhtar Ali and Sikandar Mandhro will address the
resistance at the gathering.
